Kentucky Tornado Relief

Hello Lions,

I would like to thank all of you for the compassion you are showing. I have reached out to both the Mayfield Lions Club for a progress update and yes, they are very much in need of assistance. In my conversation with them, they also discussed how many other clubs and communities in the surrounding area are in need as well. This led me to a conversation with their District Governor, Lion Gary, who updated me on how several clubs and communities are desperate for help as well. I told him about how the Valders club has built a relationship already and would like to assist them directly which DG Lion Gary was very appreciative of. If any other club would like to help additional clubs, I have attached a letter from the District Governor with ways on how to help. If you have any questions, please let me know. A situation like this always shows the heart of our organization and I thank all of you being willing to help.

Thank you Valders Lions for initiating the contact and relief efforts.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Kind Regards,
District Governor Lion BJ Blahnik

Lions,

I want to thank everyone for the dedication and unending effort being directed into helping our communities during this time of Disaster.  I have taken many calls from Lions Clubs and individual Lions regarding the disaster caused by a massive tornado last Friday night and early Saturday Morning.

The main question is “What can I (we) do to provide relief to the affected areas.

First:  Everyone can “Give Blood”.  Go through your local blood bank or Red Cross.
Second:    If you want to send a donation, send it to one of the locations below.

Donations can be made to LCIF in the normal manner.  Be sure to earmark for “Western Kentucky Tornado Relief”.  Designate for “Disaster Relief”.
Remember, all donations to LCIF count towards one or more Melvin Jones Fellowships.

I know there are many other “Relief Funds” on the internet.  Remember, some may be fake and may just keep your donations.  We Lions are focused on providing service and relieve pain of our neighbors and communities,

The district is applying for a Disaster Recovery Grant. We have been approved for a $20,000 grant once all of the forms have been completed.  We are in the process of setting up signing authority at our bank and increasing Lion coverage in the Mayfield area.

As a service organization, we need to get the word out so our neighbors and the world can feel our love.

SERVICE FROM OUR HEART
Lion Gary,

District Governor

Lions District 43-K
