District Convention

45th Annual Convention
 NOVEMBER 13 & 14, 2020   Blue Harbor Resort, Sheboygan

The Lions and Lioness of 27-B1 invite you to the 45th Annual Convention of District 27-B1 at the Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan.

November seems a long way off, but after ending the 2019-20 Lion year with the cancellation of the Lions State Convention and so many other Lion fundraisers, everyone should be looking forward to meeting their fellow hard-working Lions and Lioness for some much-needed fun and just being together once again.

Watch for more information on seminars and guests in the next edition of the Wisconsin Lion. If you’ve never been to a District Convention this is a great opportunity to meet other Lions who have the same passion to serve and have a great time. If you’ve never been to the Blue Harbor in Sheboygan this is a great opportunity to see the fantastic views and stay at a terrific price of $109 (for an additional $10 you can have access to the waterpark).

Highlights: Friday night includes, optional fish fry, raffles, terrific band Starfire, hospitality rooms and dress for our Safari theme.

Saturday, opening ceremony begins at 8:30 with full honor guard flag presentation, remembrance ceremony and opening remarks. The day continues with seminars, raffles, lunch and finalizes with a banquet with guest speakers and awards.

You don't want to miss this opportunity to enjoy a fantastic Lions‘ weekend. Many other surprises hope to see you there.

REGISTRATION: You may select your meals and register using the form found in the July-August issue of the WISCONSIN LION. The Convention Registration fee is $15.00 for Lions, Lioness and adult guests. Children, Leos and First Time Attendees are $10. (Food for thought - most clubs pay for their member’s registrations to encourage attendance.) However, also remember that even if you come just for the Friday hospitality or late on Saturday just to vote, you are still required to register and pay the fee, so come early and enjoy yourself. Register by Oct. 30.

Registration at the convention will begin Friday at 4 p.m. and continue to 7 p.m.  Saturday from 8 to 11:00.

Friday night hospitality will go from 7 to 9 p.m. Your registration will get you beer and soda all night in the hospitality room.

Tables will be available for Lions organizations, pin traders and vendors.  Tables are free for Lions projects and non-profit organizations.  Commercial vendors will be charged $50 per table.  Lions who need additional tables will be charged $15 per table.

Every club is asked to bring a gift to be included in our successful “Bucket Raffle.” Bring something you’d like to win!

The opening business session will begin Saturday morning.

A NECROLOGY program will take place.

Outstanding seminars have been planned. Voting will take place at the end of the afternoon’s seminars. The Convention Banquet will be at 5:30. The District Raffle will also be drawn after dinner.

For voting, a District Governor, a First Vice District Governor and Second Vice District Governor will be elected at this convention. We will also choose a convention site for 2022 and a bowling and golf host, so see if your club is interested in hosting next year’s District Bowling Tournament or the District Golf Tournament. Any Lion or Lioness Club in the district can host it any year. Nomination papers must be submitted to Governor Tom, the election chairperson, and the State Office 30 days prior to the convention.

The 2021 District Pin will be offered for sale at this convention. Get your designs ready as well, as the District Pin Contest will be part of the ballot for the calendar year 2022 pin. A $25 prize will again be awarded. Bring your entries and good luck!

There will be a Peace Poster Contest this year, but it might be hard to coordinate it with your school due to the attendance situation, but give it a try.  Deadline to order kits is Oct. 1.

Don’t forget to sell some ads for our Convention booklet. Deadline is Oct. 30 to IPDG Mike DeBeare.

Last but not least, please remember to bring your Peace Poster entry to the convention. Yes, it is a contest, but we really want to get the kids thinking of peace. Sponsor your own prizes so someone at your school wins.
